Generally speaking in colder waters you'd choose a 7mm wetsuit. For warmer climes like the Mediterranean a 5mm wetusit is best, and for the tropics you'd choose a 3mm one.

If you aren't totally sure, we would suggest a slightly thicker one as you don't want to end up feeling chilly, and try to plan your wetsuit choice around the deepest part of your dive where the waters get colder. Adding a thermal layer or even just a rashvest will create extra warmth.

Full-length wetsuits are definitely a consideration in coral or rockier waters where stings or scrapes could happen as they will add the necessary protection for arms and legs.

To make your wetsuit last longer, don't leave it out in direct sunlight, and buy a good neoprene wetsuit cleaner to wash off the elements that will otherwise degrade the neoprene.
